It has taken me a long time to update this blog...I have a goodish excuse in that I have been working towards an exhibition of my seascapes.I do wish that there was room to show you all of my new paintings, but there is a limit to blog spaces, and I have long accepted that what will appeal to some will not interest others. Something we all have in common is the fact that we are all moved by memories when it comes to likes and dislike. The taste of soggy school puddings blights the dreamy syrup sponge of someone with a lighter hand, and why does wine always taste better outdoors at a picnic.
Those evocations are what inspire my work, therefore I prefer to find a style, in composition, particular use of media an
d combinations of colours that suit the subject, rather than to adhere to just one method of painting or drawing. I do hope that you will take a look at memdesign.co.ukand find some examples that you like.I have used a number of these images when creating grahics for web pages, advertising material and brochures, and therefore what may start off as a watercolour or crayon sketch will be enhanced by computer to suit the particular commission.I have a number of my sketches on e-bay. They are all originals and therefore are an original gift, especially if you know that the recipient knows the area well and has happy memories of the place or view. The watercolour and pencil sketch for a larger acrylic is of Bee Sands in Dorset.

You can tell that I think that Dorset offers a wealth of inspiration for any artist....and even in the rain, as in this Summer, the views are always spectacular.
Do let me know what you think of my work, it is always great to have feedback, especially when you are an artist.

How about something different?
Let's face it, we all would like to think we are unique, different from everyone else, with our own personalities, likes and dislikes...why then do we buy so many things that manufactured in huge quantities? It may be okay for passing summer fashions or books that appeal to many, but surely you would like your home to reflect your own character?...or if you have a business, convey immediately that you are the one that is better than all the rest....or when giving a gift, that your gift will be treasured long after all the others have been forgotten or lie neglected in the attic?
